Regardless, after the Sox traded Ramirez last week, Ortiz acknowledged he might be required to be more patient at the plate. Since the deal, Ortiz is 1-for-15 with four walks and one RBI in four games. He knocked in the run last night with a first-inning groundout that plated J.D. Drew [stats] and got the Red Sox on the scoreboard.
Ortiz said he had not experienced any problems with the wrist until last night, and he was aware upon his return he might have to play through some discomfort from time to time.
